Objective

Evaluate the NAS scientific critique of the FBI's conclusion and document all individuals with access to the RMR-1029 anthrax flask.

Synopsis

Anthrax-laced letters were mailed to news media and U.S. senators, killing five people and infecting 17 others. The FBI closed the case in 2010, naming USAMRIID scientist Bruce Ivins as the sole perpetrator. Ivins died by suicide in 2008 before charges were filed. A 2011 National Academy of Sciences review disputed the scientific basis of the FBI's conclusion.
